Salt in our hair and sun on our skin- ‘effortless’ is the word guiding our summer beauty routine from head to toe. Summer hair is all about that worn-in, beachy texture. Whether you’re beside the beach in Australia, heading off in the next few months for a European Summer, or spending summer in the concrete jungle – it’s easy to create sexy, salty, surfy texture this season.

THE STYLES THAT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH SUMMER.
1. THE BEACHY WAVES
No hairstyle screams a summer down under more than tousled, beachy waves. To master this style without a day at the beach, begin with damp, slightly towel dried hair. Spritz the roots of your hair with a root lifting spray and work a serum through the ends of your hair- this will ensure you maintain both volume and healthy, hydrated hair when you add in the texture. Work a generous amount of sea salt spray through the mid lengths of your hair, scrunch in, then allow to air dry. Once your hair is dry you can add more defined waves using a curling tong, or embrace your natural texture!
2. THE DAY AFTER ‘DO
Summer should be about having fun and surrounding yourself with loved one- not spending hours styling your hair! Take a day off from deep-cleaning your hair by embracing second day texture. Spray some dry shampoo through the roots of your hair to keep grease at bay, then sweep your hair up into a loose, messy bun. Wrap a silk scarf around your hair for an effortlessly chic look with a hint of polish.
YOUR SUMMER HAIR ESSENTIALS.
1. A HYDRATING HAIR MASK
There are few elements more drying on the hair than the sun and surf. Restore much-needed moisture to your hair with a hydrating hair mask. You can even work a mask through the ends of your hair before a beach day to protect it from environmental factors and allow it to work as it heats up beneath the sun.
2. A LIGHTWEIGHT, LEAVE-IN SERUM
A leave in serum will pick up where your hair mask was washed off, nourishing your hair from root to tip. Heavy, weighty locks don’t scream “beach babe” however, so opt for a lightweight treatment to keep your tresses bouncy.
3. A SALT SPRAY
Gritty, salty waves are a hallmark of summer hair styling. Mimic the texture of a day spent at the beach by spraying and scrunching a salt spray through damp hair and allowing it to air dry.
4. A ROOT LIFTER
Dry and damaged hair can look flat, dull and lacklustre. A root lifting product will give your hair intense volume without feeling weighty. Look for products that dry to a matte, powdery finish to ensure they don’t add any excess oil to your roots.
5. A DRY SHAMPOO
Give yourself some time to enjoy the sun. Skip a shampoo here and there and embrace the powers of dry shampoo for a hair-refresh between washes. Bonus points for a dry shampoo that adds beachy texture to your tresses.
