THE SKIN

In the days prior..

A couple of days out, treat yourself to a deep cleansing, detoxifying mask. Heavy makeup, fatigue and alcohol can all lead to congested skin and, in turn, blemishes (a no-go particularly if you’re attending more than one day of the carnival), so preemptively clearing your pores will keep you one step ahead.

Try: GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment

The night before you head to the track, pop on a hydrating sheet mask. It’s important to restore moisture to the skin after you’ve extracted any excess from within the pores, so a sheet mask will guarantee your skin looks plump and juicy by morning.

Try: Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask

On the day..

After completing your regular skincare routine, apply a mattifying prior. Even if you’re opting for a dewy skin finish, a mattifying primer will erase the need for multiple T zone touch-ups during the day and keep your base in place.

Try: Nars Smooth and Protect Primer

Once your makeup is on, give your skin a quick spritz with a setting spray to lock it all in. If you have room in your handbag, keep your face mist on hand to deliver the skin a hydration hit and freshen up your makeup throughout the day.

Try: Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

THE HAIR

In the days prior..

Give yourself a salon quality hair treatment at home to ensure your locks are in perfect condition ahead of both heat styling and sun damage that will no doubt take place during the Carnival.

Try: Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 Treatment

On the day..

Any race meet is guaranteed to be a long day- so your hairstyle, whichever you choose, needs to last. Set your ‘do using a flexible hold hairspray to keep things in place without taking away any natural movement from the hair or adding a crisp, hard film.

Try: Hair by Sam McKnight Modern Hairspray

THE BODY

In the days prior..

To ensure your skin as at its healthiest, and to prepare it for a faux glow, remove any dead and dry skin cells with a gentle scrub in the lead up to the Spring Carnival.

Try: Frank Body Express-O Scrub

Give your skin a healthy wash of colour and create amazonian bronze limbs with a good quality self tanner. A mousse is perfect for those who want an intense tan, while gradual tanning moisturisers will work beautifully for those who seek a more natural, golden glow.

Try: James Read Bronzing Mousse

On the day..

To give your skin a photo-ready sheen, apply a dry body oil with subtle shimmer particles to attract, catch and diffuse the light.

Try: French Girl Organics Lumiere Body Oil
