8 LESSONS LEARNT FROM DIOR RTW SS19 RUNWAY

..including the fact that we should have pursued dance!

To kick off Paris Fashion Week this month we looked to Dior’s RTW SS19 collection. Stepping (well technically dancing) away from the grand and bold, Dior kept it minimal and classic. The collection entailed neutral colour tones and a large emphasis on accessories taking to the runway (yes ladies, we’re talking about THE saddle bag), whilst surrounded by a dance performance that was hypnotic to say the least!

While the collection was incredibly monochromatic, Dior kept it chic and sophisticated with their mesh pieces and earthy tones.

We saw lots of sunglasses (the bigger the better), the must-have logo belt and of course the much desired Saddle Bag draped over a number of very wearable looks.

Keeping the makeup and hair minimal, Dior aimed their focus on the collection – not the people wearing it. When it comes to ready to wear, Dior are the masters.. always keeping us envious of their collection yet providing wearable, classic pieces that almost anyone can see themselves in! Read on to find out the 8 lessons we learnt from Dior, which no doubt will be applied to our everyday fashion choices starting NOW!

1.

CHOOSE NEUTRAL

Focussing on neutral tones such as black, khaki, beige, navy and a touch of mustard, Dior have kept their colour pallet very neutral. Using earthy tones throughout their collection has ensured each look to be extremely versatile and wearable for every-day wear. While the colour pallet may be on the safer side, this collection was far from safe. With stand out pieces and prints, Christian Dior has turned classic from safe to daring.

2.

MIX IT UP WITH MESH

Who would have thought the 80’s mesh trend would make this much of a come-back? We certainly didn’t, and now we have Christian Dior to thank for it. With a modern twist, using layers and different mesh cuts, this rather gothic look has wowed us.

3.

THE LOGO BELT IS HERE TO STAY

While many luxury brands have designed their own logo belt, we were beginning to think the trend was fading.. but how wrong we were. After the Dior RTW collection showcased in Paris, we can now confirm the logo belt is here to stay.

4.

REACH FOR LARGER THAN LIFE SUNNIES

Step aside small sunnies, big are back and big are BIG! While the small sunglass trend was fun, Dior have created something that we didn’t know we needed, until now! The bigger, (the sunnies) the better.

5.

SNEAKERS ALWAYS

It’s no secret, the sneaker game is very strong this season and Christian Dior have made no exception. With the models strutting their stuff down the runway in comfort and of course style, the SS19 collection featured a very chic and very black pair of sneakers… We’ll take 2!

6.

INVEST IN THE SADDLE BAG

The last few months have seen the come-back of the Dior vintage tote, The Saddle Bag. From Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and The City back in the late 90’s to every ‘IT’ girl right now, the iconic Saddle bag is everywhere and their are no complaints on our end.

7.

LESS IS MORE IN THE BEAUTY DEPARTMENT

While we can all get carried away with the over the top make-up and hair styles during fashion week, we are loving the simplicity of the direction Dior took in their show. Keeping the focus on the fashion and models’ beauty, Dior certainly nailed the whole ‘less is more’ look.

8.

EVERYONE NEEDS A GOLD CHOKER

When it comes to accessories we are all about gold. So as you can imagine we ‘J’adior’ the gold chokers on the runway at PFW this year. Definitely a must-have piece to bling up any outfit.
